Certification Builds Capability. Accreditation Builds Systems. We Just Launched the Difference.

This week on The Kirkpatrick Podcast, we made a claim that we want to build on here: your evaluation efforts aren’t failing because of your model, your data, or your people. They’re failing because of your system.

And if that’s true — if systems are the real driver of evaluation success — then it raises a harder question for every L&D leader: what does it actually take to build one?

Today, Kirkpatrick Partners is answering that question with something we’ve been building toward for a long time.

We are officially launching the Kirkpatrick Learning and Performance Center of Excellence Accreditation — the first organizational-level credential that recognizes not just what your people know, but whether your organization is structurally built to deliver, sustain, and scale learning and performance impact.

“Certification builds capability. Accreditation builds systems. We needed both.” — Vanessa Milara Alzate, Owner/CEO, Kirkpatrick Partners

Why Systems Change Everything

In this week’s episode, I talked about James Clear’s principle from Atomic Habits: people don’t rise to the level of their goals — they fall to the level of their systems. We’ve seen this play out in organizations across every sector and size.

An L&D team gets Kirkpatrick certified. Evaluation improves. Then that certified person moves on — and everything goes with them. Not because the organization didn’t care. Because the evaluation capability lived in a person, not in a system.

This is the gap the Kirkpatrick CoE Accreditation is designed to close.

What Organizational Accreditation Actually Means

The Kirkpatrick Certified Organization designation recognizes organizations that have embedded the Kirkpatrick Four Levels® not just into individual practice, but into the fabric of how the organization operates. We assess across 10 domains:

  • Organizational alignment with the Kirkpatrick Model
  • Blended Evaluation Plan design and implementation
  • SOP integration and infrastructure
  • Culture of evaluation and continuous improvement
  • Stakeholder communication and leadership support
  • Internal capability-building and champion development
  • Cross-functional behavior design and support
  • Impact evidence collection and analysis
  • Systems for sustainability and agility
  • Strategic positioning and internal consultancy role

These aren’t checkboxes. They’re evidence of a functioning learning and performance ecosystem — one that uses evaluation to enable its work, not just report on it.

What We Hear From Organizations in the Field

When we talk to L&D, HR, and performance leaders about what’s holding them back, we hear the same four things:

  • Capability without infrastructure — individual certifications exist but have not translated into enterprise-wide practice.
  • Fragmented processes 2014 evaluation is siloed in L&D while performance and business metrics live elsewhere.
  • Credibility gaps 2014 L&D cannot demonstrate impact in the language leaders care about.
  • Culture without structure 2014 leaders want evaluation to matter, but no governance exists to make it stick.

The CoE Accreditation directly addresses all four. It’s the enterprise-level answer to what individual certification alone cannot solve.

“We built this because our clients kept telling us: we know the model. We just can’t get it to scale.” — Vanessa Milara Alzate

Not Ready Yet? We Have a Path for That.

We know that not every organization is ready to apply for accreditation today — and that’s exactly why we are building a library of Kirkpatrick-standard standard operating procedures (SOPs) you can purchase directly to build your infrastructure before you apply.

These are the same SOPs that underpin the accreditation standard: customizable procedures for all four Kirkpatrick levels, governance frameworks, evaluation planning templates, and implementation guides. You can purchase them directly from Kirkpatrick Partners and use them to build the infrastructure you need — on your own timeline, at your own pace.

Think of it as the on-ramp. The accreditation is the destination.

The Investment

Accreditation is priced by organization size, with a one-time fee and a lightweight annual maintenance structure that requires no full audit year-over-year:

  • Small (up to 100 employees): $5,000 one-time / $1,500 annually
  • Mid-size (101–500 employees): $10,000 one-time / $3,000 annually
  • Enterprise (500+ employees): $20,000 one-time / $6,000 annually

Individual Kirkpatrick certification is a required prerequisite and is priced separately. Contact us for certification pathways and pricing.

A Note for Early Movers: Founding Organization Status

We are opening our inaugural accreditation cohort now — and organizations that achieve accreditation in this first cohort will receive permanent Founding Kirkpatrick Certified Organization status. That means your credential will always carry the distinction of being among the first organizations globally to meet this standard.

Founding Organizations also receive their first year of annual maintenance waived — a saving of $1,500 to $6,000 depending on your tier — plus featured recognition at the inaugural Kirkpatrick Certified Organization showcase at the annual Summit and priority access to the quarterly roundtable.

Founding status closes when the inaugural cohort is full.
